Welcome to The Blandford Arts Hub :

This is an exciting new project for Blandford Forum, bringing arts to the community, and the community to the arts.  There will be a diverse range of activities to suit all ages and abilities.

Set in the newly developed Nightingale Court garden (The cut through between M&S/Langton Rd Carpark ( Postcode for sat nav: DT11 7DZ) and East st/Blandfords high st. ).

Just next door in Nightingale Court you can find more crafty creations at Coralies’ Crafts & Gifts and Cotton Moon Haberdashery and fabric shop. For tasty creations we have the delicious Cake and Sprinkles, who also offer cream teas, plain tea, coffees and lots of freshly baked cakes.  But if you want art on skin then there is the tattoo parlour or if its creative haircuts, we have a hairdresser too.

It really is quite the creative corner, and well worth a visit

What’s on this month:

Update for our Autumn hours ( 🤸 !! Please note the first week of every month is always a topsy turvy week as we catch up and update).

We have a new timetable which actually is very similar to summer. We will keep going until it’s either too dark or too cold.  ☔❄️

We are also working with some Blandford venues, who we can work with to run more winter workshops. Sadly, until planning gives us full approval, we cannot afford to invest in heating.

The free drop ins continue on the same days and hours: –

🌈 Monday, Thursday 10-12.

🌈 Saturday is still wombling free 2-4, where we will also be running a 🎃 Halloween special in October.

🎨🖌️Kids Art Club, again same days, Tuesday and Thursday but a later and flexi start time, from 3.30 to fit in with school and ending 5.15.  Booking required. A new booking system is being set up, but in the meantime, you can just let us know and pay on day (£6). Normally ASC (after school’s club) is booked and paid per half term. This term we are trying per session due to the unknown element of when it will become just too dark & too cold.

📢 There will be other workshops, including seasonal ones. So do watch this space and look out for the events we create 📝 best done by  joining our facebook group.

  • Our little shops and Gallery will be opening for September – launch date will be announced soon
  • A reminder for an outdoors activity we have a couple of easels and fold up stools available for hire, and various art materials to purchase. If you want to go out on your own.
  • We can also hire out the space for your own private function or party.  If it’s a birthday or celebration then our lovely new neighbour, Cake & Sprinkles, make very good bespoke celebration cakes.

To sum up:-

  1. For the most up to date information, to converse and share ideas, and see what is happening at BAHub, click here and join our facebook group.
  2. Remember we always like to get feedback and ideas so we can tailor activities to suit you.
  3. Do email us on freeexpressioncreative@gmail.com for any questions about our activities, what we have on offer, how to book, and opening times (we currently have varied opening times)

Here are just some of the ideas and plans we are working towards.

 And a bit more detail:

Drop in workshops

We will be running regular free drop in workshops, giving everyone the opportunity to get creative. Currently they are our Monday project day, Thursday morning drop in and Saturday afternoon wombling free session. You can bring your own project in, or do one of ours. We will also run our own Money for nothing sessions helping you breath new life into your old stuff and maybe even make some money along the way. There are many who have to work so we have created the lunch hour club. Sadly this has not started yet, due to lack of man power (unless a kind volunteer would like to help run it?). If you are interested, either as a participant or to help run it, do let us know. Currently we are just asking for a £3 donation towards materials.

Blandford Wombles

Remember the Wombles? We love them as they are all about making good use of the things folks leave behind. We will be getting creative with all that stuff people think as rubbish but we see as gold and amazing art resources. This will take place Saturdays Afternoons

Afterschool’s and Holiday Art club

We will be offering a fun creative afterschool’s and holiday clubs. This will be suitable for over 7. Younger children can join in with adult supervision. Full details on our booking page. We are also looking at creating the little wombles toddler group.

Guest Artist

The studio will be available for guest artists to run their own workshops. If you would like to do this, please email us.

Available for Hire

When there are no workshops running the space is available to hire for your own use. It could be to run your own workshop or hold an event, birthday parties, just ask .

The day is divided into 3 sessions of approx. 3hrs, morning afternoon and evening.  Cost will be £20 per session. Should you want us to provide a helper that would be an additional £10p/h

BAHub Membership

We are developing an annual membership scheme. This will give you discounts or free entry to our various workshops and events. There will also be a discount on art supplies.

We will keep you updated to when our membership scheme becomes active

Take a look at some of our ’22 workshops below.

For 2023 Some will change but much will stay the same …

Any questions please do get in touch. :-)

Things to Note :-

  • Out in the field art and photography is currently NOT on every week, but please ask when the next session will be.  We have our notice board at the hub for more current info
  • We try not to change our timetables too much and hope to have the following all up and running for the summer of 2023.  If you are interested in anything, please do let us know.
  • Sunrise and sunset yoga.   Please let us know if you are interested so we have an idea on numbers.
  • The written word workshop will be on every week when it starts, and as in our Monday workshops we just ask for a £3 donation if you can. No need to book.  The things we will do is to help and encourage with creative writing and poetry and something we feel is so important and being forgotten The art of letter writing.  Come down design your own post card and send someone a letter.  We will of course be having guests in to run workshops and these will cost and most likely need to book. Keep an eye on our notice board, or facebook group for dates.
  • Craft hour is the same as the written word sessions.  We would love to have a regular crafty expert to get involved.  Could this be you? Do let us know if you are interested.
  • Lunch hour club, like many of the workshops we do, is just a £3 donation, only if you can afford it.  It’s still evolving but we would love to hear what you would like to see and do.
  • Cash only I’m afraid, unless you pre book online.  We are trying to organise wifi at the garden to accept card payments.  Reception is not brilliant, I think it’s all the wonderful bird song disrupting it and filling the gardens airwaves.  Seriously the bird song is amazing…..

** Creativate lessons in Art with Mell Bennett

Creativate is one our creative partners who also runs independently from us. Mel also runs workshops outside of what we do at BAHub.  So, we recommend going to her events page & website to see the other activities that she may be running.

Creative fun for kids

We offer both an after schools club, and activities for the holidays.

The after schools club you sign up for 1/2 term, which is 7 weekly sessions. We will be covering a variety of activities, culminating in a finished project that they can share with their family.

The holiday fun are single sessions but you can book in advance multi sessions should you so wish.  We will have suggested activities each week but we also like to go with what your child may want to do.

Our focus for the kids workshops is to have fun and follow their creative flow.

For more information please go to the booking page.

Free Drop In Sessions

Not wanting to exclude anyone we have free drop in sessions every Monday & Thursday morning 10-12, including our Wombling free, Wombles club. every Saturday 2-4.    No booking required just pop down.

To add a bit more interest for the little ones, along with our box of colouring stuff, we have our really wild sandpit and our resident goldfish, Learoy Jenkins, Japan, Aka and Little Miss Invisible.

Did you know along with the Blandford Wombles (who are very shy and secretive, can you find their home? Have you seen them?), we often get the fairies visiting and they make a right mess in the sandpit with all their glitter -sorry. If you see glitter then the fairies have been!

So much to see, do and look for:-)
